Career Mentors will be matched to an alumnus of the South Bronx United's SBU Academy program—most will be either in college or a recent college graduate. Mentors will support the mentee through the career planning and career search process. This would include reviewing resumes and cover letters, discussing potential career paths, reviewing internship and job opportunities, and mentoring them on best approaches to the job search, interviews, and more. Mentors will communicate with the mentee through email, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
Preference is for applicants already serving as volunteers, supporters, or board members.
The time commitment will depend on the level of investment from the mentor and the mentee. We anticipate a typical mentor would spend 1-5 hours per month volunteering.
