The SBU NYC Footy Charity Cup is back August 21st.

Support South Bronx United by signing up to play in the 8th Annual SBU Charity Cup, to be held on Saturday, August 21st at Macombs Dam Park in the shadow of Yankee Stadium. The adult 5v5 tournament and fundraising event is open to any adult players, who can register their teams or as individual free agents in either the Competitive or Casual divisions. For the first time, SBU is partnering with NYC Footy for the 2021 SBU Charity Cup. Anyone registering by Memorial Day will receive a 10% discount on a future NYC Footy league. Winners will receive exclusive awards provided by NYC Footy and the honor to be crowned Charity Cup champions.

While individuals can sign up on their own, many participants group with teams of colleagues, friends, or supporter clubs. Past participating teams have included Barclays, BlackRock, Dos Toros Taqueria, Goldman Sachs, Tio Nacho Restaurant, The Third Rail SC, FC Barca Penya (Barcelona Supporters Club), FC Bayern Munich Fan Club, the Vikings Army, and many others.

This year’s unique format will see participants will be assigned to either divisions held in 2-hour time slot. They will complete in the group stage in three-team groups through a fast-paced, pick-up style format. The winner of each group will advance to the semifinals. Field play is 5v5 including a goalkeeper. Teams can include up to 10 participants.

To participant, teams must fundraise at least $500. Free agents (non-affiliated individuals) must fundraise at least $100. Fundraising and donations are made easy thanks to Charity Cup’s Rallybound platform. Individuals or teams should visit the 8th Annual SBU Charity Cup website to register, where they will create their own customizable fundraising pages to donate or collect contributions. Teams must reach their goal no later than August 13th.
