Health And Wellness
The Health and Wellness program emphasizes that youth take on good nutrition and active lifestyles to fight obesity. The South Bronx was rated as having the highest obesity rate in the nation. Soccer is a sport that requires all youth to be active, and our training sessions ensure that as many kids as possible are constantly moving. Youth are encouraged to participate in at least one hour of physical activity per day, which is proven to help keep children in shape. The recreational program also includes an organic snack food partnership with Peter Rabbit Organics to promote healthy eating. South Bronx United holds events to promote family health options and increase community awareness of the childhood obesity problem. The organization also has a partnership with Westchester Square Physical Therapy to provide therapy services to our youth and to assist with a physical fitness and training program with our Travel Program.
Youth Health Forums
South Bronx United participates in Youth Forums hosted by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation at the Clinton Foundation. Youth discuss issues around childhood health and wellness.
